Piarco, Trinidad, W.I., 17 May 2011 – Children came out in their numbers packing Fiesta Plaza in Movie Towne, Port of Spain on Sunday 15 May to perform in the Caribbean Airlines Kids’ Karaoke Caravan. Celebrity judge Machel Montano, together with the Caribbean Airlines panel of judges, had their hands full from 3 p.m. on Sunday, as they judged fifty boys and girls all of whom were vying for a chance to win two tickets to Orlando courtesy the national carrier of Trinidad and Tobago.
Securing first place in the Boys category with his rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Ben”, Tyrell Toby had the crowd cheering him on with the seventies classic. In the Girls category, the first place prize of 2 tickets to Orlando went to Kurlise Bentham, who at just five years old, sang “No one” by Alicia Keys.
The entire competition was judged by a panel including a special appearance by celebrity judge Machel Montano. The 2011 Soca Monarch and Road March winner expressed his delight at the wide range of talent shown by the nation’s youngsters. During an interview with Caribbean Airlines’ in-flight video team, the soca star noted that the performances truly meant a bright future for the entertainment industry in Trinidad and Tobago.
The promotion was headed by the Caribbean Airlines marketing team who will be taking the caravan to the sister isle in about two weeks. “The Karaoke Caravan will be heading to Gulf City Lowlands Mall in Tobago on 30 May. We want to remind parents that the competition is open to children 12 years and under. Participants should be there early to ensure that they can register. Each child that participates will also receive a token from Caribbean Airlines just for competing. We believe that this is a fabulous promotion not only to highlight our twice weekly summer service to Orlando, but to engage children and their parents to try something new on a weekend and to show off their singing skills,” said Marketing Manager Alicia Cabrera.
The flights will be operating from Piarco International Airport to MCO International Airport in Orlando on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5 July until 2 September. Customers may also take advantage of the all inclusive packages offered on the website. Customers can continue to receive full in-flight entertainment, meals and a generous baggage policy on the airline.
